So today is another job search day here in Ft. Myers. As the economy keeps sucking jobs from folks the belt tightens, but I am hopeful and keep looking. It's a bit overcast today...and there is a cold front coming...looks like it's gonna be 45 ish in the mornings for a few days...yikes. Talk soon.

Just Like Christmas, but Without the Snow!

Christmas was a bit surreal this year. While everyone else was focused on Holiday shopping and festivities, John & I were focused on packing up our worldly posessions and getting our butts down to FLA. For us, Christmas came a bit early in the form of a 35 ton truck filled with boxes, and boxes, and boxes to be opened. We hadn't seen most of this stuff for 2 years! It is official.....we have too much stuff.

Christmas morning started with the daily check of our "backyard biology experiment". Just about every household here in FL has one, except most of our neighbors call theirs "swimming pools". Ours is still not ready to swim in, so we headed to Dog Beach on Lover's Key. We packed up Gunther & Melinda and we were on our way! The great news is that we are exactly 9 miles from Ft. Myers beach! Lovers Key is a State Park south of Ft. Myers Beach, just inside the city limits of Bonita Springs.
When we arrived, our spastic canine friends almost lost their collective minds. SO many dogs running, swimming, playing frisbee, and sniffing each others butts. The sun was shining and the water was crystal clear. This is how we spent Christmas Day:

The Auto Train in Photos

The "HOT BOX" gets pumped by an attendant for the last time in NJ!

Quick Photo Update

BFFs Say "See-Ya!"
It was a "happy/sad" evening at Cork Restaurant the Friday before Tracy's newest "BFF" packed up the dogs and headed to our new home in Ft. Myers, Fl. John finally has documented evidence that he has a new BFF! His screams of delight caused the crowd of 100+ to pause and look to see what had happened when he was presented with his new, favorite shirt (pictured here). We are truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family members that were able to show up and wish us well. I think that perhaps some are planning to cash in their attendance for a visit to our new home. To those who have such intentions, we say, "BRING IT ON!" (just be sure to pack some extra $1 bills for L,R,C! and cash for your bar tab!). Hopefully, John will post a couple of pics from his journey, mine are coming soon. This is a short post, but I'm trying to get the hang of this whole "blog" thing, and I am dead tired from painting and ripping up carpet. Hope all (one) of our blog fans had a wonderful Holiday! BIG love, SD

Countdown...1 day left in NJ

Ok...so today is the day before the movers arrive and there is so much crap and so little boxes...amazingly, when I look at the stuff it looks like it will fit into ONE box...call me crazy...so I take a break, have a smoke, pack a little..take a break, etc. Oh, and Melinda and Gunther just wander around the ever shrinking apartment wondering what the hell is going on...little do they know they'll be trapped in the car with me for hours on end until we reach Fort Myers. Nothing a little doggy downer won't help though. That's it for now...I have to pack up the computer.

Big Love
John
